Yau Ma Tei Tin Hau Temple was built in 1860,
the largest Temple in Kowloon. The present location of the Temple is the past coastal area of Yau Ma Tei. However after the large-scale
reclamation projects, it became today's Temple.
Unfortunately, it have typhoon in 1874 and destroyed the original temple. After that, the residents in Yau Ma Tei has raised fund together as to rebuild the temple and finished in 1890. Nowadays, Tin Hau temple already classified as a Grade I historic buildings in Hong Kong. Currently, the residents here are no longer living by fishing, but still have a strong belief in Tin Hau. According to the Legend, Tin Hau’s name is Lam Mok, since her childhood has ability to predict the weather and save countless lives in the shipwreck, the coastal villagers and fishermen have regard her as the patron saint of the sea and build the temple to worship her.
可惜在1874年甲戌風災,原廟被摧毀。其後當地居民籌募經費重建,1876年選取現址開始動工,1890年始告全面落成。現已被古物古蹟辦事處列為一級歷史建築。目前居民已不再以捕魚為生,但仍舊供奉天后娘娘。傳說天后姓林名默,自童年起已有預測天氣的異能,在海難中救人無數,沿海鄉民和漁民均視她為海上守護神而建廟奉祀。

天后廟經歷了許多朝代的歷史洗禮,其中保留的歷史文物極為豐富,例如:
門前一對製於清同治四年(1865年)的石獅
the temple also has one in fourteen years Guangxu (1888) cast bronze bell.
廟內也有一口在光緒十四年(1888年)鑄造的銅鐘等。
Every year, it attracted a large number of worshipers come to homage.
每年的「觀音借庫」寶誕,都會吸引了一大批善信前來參拜。
