In Mong Kok of Yau Tsim Mong, actually Shui Yuet Palace is a Kwun Yum temple. It is embraced by skyscrapers and expressed a strong contrast between modern and traditional senses. The temple is regarded as Grade III historic buildings in Hong Kong, whereas a traditional destination for travelers' sight viewing. 

旺角水月宮，是香港的一座觀音廟，被高樓大廈包圍著，洋溢著現代與傳統的強烈對比，是為香港三級歷史建築物，是一處具有傳統氣息的自由行景點。

Once upon a time, Shui Yuet Palace was built by residents living in Mong Kok, Ho Man Tin and near-by. In 1908, a large-scaled rebuilt project did to Shui Yuet Palace. It was supported and funded by villagers and merchants in Yau Ma Tei. Before the relocation, there were many believers to visit there and flourished. At present, there are many meta-physicians provide fortune-telling services around the temple and this show a special angle of religious culture in Hong Kong.

水月宮在很久以前由旺角、何文田及其他附近的客籍鄉民倡建。廟宇曾於1908年進行一次大規模的重修，費用除由附近鄉民籌集外，一些油麻地的商戶亦大力支持有關工程。搬遷以前，該廟香火非常鼎盛，信客眾多。現時，水月宮會有許多香港命理師在廟宇附近替大家算命，展現香港宗教文化特別的一面。

Every 9th of March in western calendar each year,  it is the "Kwun Yum Treasury Opening" day. According to Chinese tradition, people with bad wealth may burn incense and wish to be blessing by Kwun Yum. After that, they can draw a red pocket from storehouse.  Different values ranging from millions to ten millions are marked inside the red pocket. The implication of "Treasury Opening" is to bless the continue flow of wealth from Kwun Yum in the coming year, while the luck should be only limited to positive purpose such as employees benefits and merchant business opportunities etc.

每年的農歷正月廿六日（西曆三月九日），是觀音開庫的日子。根據中國傳統，若財運不濟之人士，可在這天到觀音廟上香祈求觀音大士庇祐，再到庫房抽取利是一封。利是封內寫有一些不同銀碼，從數百萬至數千萬不等。借庫的意義，是祈求觀音大士庇祐今年財運亨通，財運只能是正財，包括打工一族或營商等等。

"Kwun Yum Treasury Opening" process:

1. Buy a set of "Kwum Yum clothing" and incense

2. Burn candles and three big incenses at the altar of Kwum Yum

3. Insert these incenses into the furnace

4. Knelt down and prayed sincerely

借庫程序：

1. 購買觀音衣寶香燭一份，

2. 在觀音壇前燃點臘燭及三支大香，

3. 插在大爐中，

4. 然後跪下誠心禱告。

City rumors circulate that "Kwun Yum Treasury Opening" is extremely efficacious. A movie called "Fat Choi Spirit" in 2002 ,which was performed by famous Hong Kong actor Andy Lau,  also involved a section describing the visit to Kwun Yum Temple. As a result, he had been so lucky and earned money playing Mahjong. This was actually borrowed the allusion of borrowing money from Kwun Yum Temple in Mong Kok.

據說觀音開庫相當靈驗，在由劉德華主演的電影「嚦咕嚦咕新年財」之中，也有一段描述他前往觀音廟借錢的橋段，結果真的連本帶利賺了不少，由來就取自旺角觀音廟借錢的典故。
